Daemons scratch built Portal Glyph

This is my portalglyph. It is made of plasticard. I made it using this template:

This is from here http://synaps3.blogspot.co.uk/2014/01/building-portalglyph.html and you should check it out cause his one is good too.

To make it just get some plasticard, cut out the template, and start slashing to create a worn effect. The battleworn look on it is fantastic and leads to some nice shading later on during the painting process. Actually making this wasn't too hard, just be careful of your fingers. The nice thing about this portalglyph is it is undivided, meaning any daemon army alligned to any god can use it, although i sneaked in a nurgle symbol in there to show my true alliegence.

I painted it using a chaos black basecoat, followed by a mechanicus standard grey drybrush, nuln oil wash, another mechanicus standard grey drybrush (lighter then the last), then finally a light dawnstone drybrush.

In general game use as every chaos daemon player will tell you it is FANTASTIC. Get one.

Cheers.
Until then

Herald of nurgle mini-conversion

I was flicking through the latest white dwarf and came across a really cool conversion for it (kit-bash section):

I already adored the fantasy Nurgle chaos lord and above was a way to add him to my daemon army. A simple head swap brought this into existance (thank you Adam Troke for this idea):

This is the army i was thinking of using him in:

Epidermius
110

Herald of nurgle
cloud of flies
55

Great unclean one
cloud of flies
breath of chaos
195

x2
x13 plague bearers
390

daemon prince
wings
MoN
iron hide
cloud of flies
unholy might
breath of chaos
255

1005

The herald will give the other plague bearer squad support in the form of cloud of flies, meaning they can hold objectives better. Taking away aura is probably the best choice because it didn't make up for its kills very well, and wasn't worth the points. Breath on the other hand is worth every point, but only on the big guys.

Remember this is a fun army not a tournement one.

Until then.

Project OOP: Leman Russ

This is how far i have got with my Leman Russ 'renovation' conversion. I used an old space wolf backpack so i can put a banner on, and a pelt from the grey hunter back (cut it off and glued it on. I also took 2 space wolf chainswords and glued then together to make Mjaniar. You may notice it is slightly bent, this is purposful to make it more like a sabre.

I think im done with the model now, i just need to do the base (a mountain peak!) the banner, and paint it AND do Freki and Geri.

Until then.

Are these good rules, or overpowered?

Until then.

Project OOP

OOP. Out of production. A gold mine for collectors. Recently a cousin of mine gave me a bunch of unwanted old models. I was looking through them and from what was there i was like *meh*.
But then i came across the old vintage great unclean one. Sure he was small (only slightly bigger then a plague bearer) but he was a beauty. So i decided i would fix him up (lots of gaps etc) and paint him and field him as a tribute to the old days.

Ages ago we got a job lot off ebay for space wolves. Just so odd bits here and there. Then we came across this. An old Leman Russ model. Sure he was missing his wolves, blade, cape, back pack, and standard, but i took him on. I am going to convert this baby and make him the best damn primarch hes meant to be.

So this is project OOP, getting a GUO to playing standard and converting a primarch back up to shape. Im even going to make some rules for Russ (based off the rules for Angron in the horus heresy rulebook). I will do regular updates on this so stay tuned.

Until then.

I'M BACK BABY!

I'm back. Sorry for the huge break in posts lately, i've been busy. After 3 years of it's release, i've finally started to paint my Space hulk miniatures (2 models so far, but 2 on the way). Here they are:

I'm pretty pleased with how they came out, what do you think?

Also my daemon prince is done! After a few weeks i have managed to sit down and paint. Here he is...

I love this guy, he kills good and looks good. To do the wings i painted them elf flesh then washed them carroburg crimsom and then seraphim sepia. Check out the army so far...

My nid beating army is almost fully painted, next a converted nurgle soul grinder (maybe a plague hulk?) will be added to my army, look forward to that.

Until then.

Nurgle daemon prince with wings conversion

To finish off my tyranid beating list i am constructing a winged nurgle prince. In this post i will show you a step by step of how i done it.
First of the sprues, wings, and construction:

My idea was to, instead of putting the smoke stacks on the back, put wings on instead. I bought some dragon wings from the GW site. I am going to carve a small indent on either side of the model and chop the sticky out bits on the wings in two so that it can fit in the holes i am making so that the wings will be sturdier. I will then green stuff the wings to that they blend seamlessly into the model. Here here are the 'holes':

And now the finished model.

Altogether i am thourghly pleased with the result. The wings are holding like a treat and it looks fantastic.

I will be painting this up soon so i will show some pics when its done. Until then.
